Tuesday Teaching Tips & Tricks #3

Hello Friends!
I apologize for not blogging anything in a while, it has been extremely busy around here lately. Not to mention the wonderful snow that has graced us oh so quickly. I have finished quite a few awesome products, but I will save those for another post. Today's post will be somewhat short but it is very important for new teachers to know. On to the tips and tricks!

Today's Tip & Trick
Don't Try it All

If there is one thing teachers are great at, its creating wonderful and engaging lesson plans. There are so many great resources and plans that teachers make, but the number one problem we have is trying to get too much done in the classroom. It is always difficult, but the best advice I can give is for you to sift through your lessons and only choose one or two of the best ones to teach. Don't try and teach it all. It is one thing to make sure you are planned so when things get done you have something to do, but to rush and try to get to all the various lessons and activities you have planned only hurts you and your students. If you choose just one or two of the best lessons and really sick with them for the day your students will not only understand the concepts more, but they will also not be as prone to tire out from being overworked.

Doing just the most important and best lessons you create will put less stress on you and your students. It can be a heavy load for you both when you try and cram your day with lessons, activities or packets. My suggestion for after you choose your best one or two lessons is to find just one good packet, activity set or workbook that has interactive pages or activities for your students. This will give your students something to work on after they complete your lessons. With about three to four specific lessons and pages for students to complete, your day will become less stressful and you will have more time outside of school for your personal life rather than always planning tons of things. Never throw away an idea, just keep it  as an option for another time. Choose things that are the most meaningful to you and they will become meaningful for your students as well.
