Tuesday Teaching Tips & Tricks #4

Hi Friends!
I apologize for writing this later than usual. It was a very long day and I have been busy trying to remodel the website.. which by the way.. What do you all think of the new design? I just got a bunch of new decorative box type fonts for my computer and that just made me motivated enough to try a new look for the site. Anyways, thanks for all of your support and I hope you have a terrific Tuesday!

Today's Tip & Trick:
Setting High Expectations

It is simple common sense that the expectations a teacher has for their students places a huge role in how to students behave and perform various tasks. New teachers need to possess an infinite capacity for hope and optimism. It takes a lot to keep expectations high, especially for those misbehaving students or during those times when you feel all is lost. Having high optimism helps us to retain high expectations in the face of any difficult situation, whether it be a student, fellow staff member, the administration or a parent. Couple high expectations with both determination and perseverance and you have the qualities to survive and thrive in teaching. When your expectations for your students are set high, your students will have more pride in their work as well as make goals for themselves. I know it was very difficult for me to get some of my students to work, but just them knowing the expectations were set high helped them realize when it was free time and when it was time to get busy. I'm not only saying set expectations high for your students, in turn you have to set high expectations for yourself as well. Take charge of the things you care about and set personal goals as the teacher as well. Having expectations for yourself, and even sometimes sharing those with your students will help unite your classroom community as well as giving yourself and your students something to achieve.

Get Ready for Easter Early

Hi Followers!
It has been a very cold and gusty last few days with the snow and cold still coming down in Colorado. I have more great news though... I have completed the 1st and 2nd grade April Print & Go Packets! I now love making these Print & Go packets as I see them being quite helpful to teachers for centers, printables, homework pages and more. Lots of you have left me feedback on the packets and asked for certain things to be included in future packets as well. I hope you all enjoy these two new packets. Click the images below to be taken to them in my store.
